Less than 24 hours after Governor Nyesom Wike sacked Rivers State
Works Commissioner, Bathuel Harrison, the state Information and
Communication Commissioner, Mr. Austin Tam George, has reportedly
resigned his appointment.
Wike, announcing the sacking of Harrison on Thursday had said that his dismissal was with immediate effect.
While the news was yet to settle, it was learnt that the state
Commissioner for Information and Communication has resigned on his own
volition.
Details of his resignation were however not yet available as at the time this report was filed in.
Tam George is the second image/information that has resigned from Wike’s cabinet in a space of two years.
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Opunabo Inko-Tariah, had also resigned from his position in 2015.
Mr. Tariah, in a resignation letter to the governor, said unfolding
developments in the State indicated that his services were no longer
needed.
George’s letter of resignation read, “I wish to resign my appointment
as Commissioner for Information and Communication with effect from
today, June 23, 2017.
“I have handed over officially to the Director of Administration of the Ministry.
“Thank for the opportunity to serve the state”.
